Tuomas Toivonen is an architect, producer, composer, and sonic artist, making performances, releasing recorded music and creating in-situ built sound installations in multiple contexts - barren islands, old forests, urban rooftops, horse stables, community radiowaves, subterranean nightclubs, drawing archives, parade demos, central libraries, museum halls, public saunas…
His recorded solo works and performances often combine carefully composed text, slowly evolving atmospherics, deep pulsating rhythm drones, and experiments in technology, process and form.
Solo releases include New Album (2005), Urbanism in the House (2010), Urbaani komedia (2015) and In the forest, I tell my child, we should stop and be still (2023).
Apart from his solo projects, Toivonen has conceptualized and participated in numerous collaborative groups spanning from mesmeric r’n’b-dub, bard-core, meditative free-jazz tensity, experimental electroacoustics on archive instruments, most notably: GIANT ROBOT (w/ Assefa/Niiniluoto/Rantala/
